The Wednesday Night Paddler (TWNP) at Daniels

  • Apr 16, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Patapsco River - Daniels Dam

The Wednesday Night Paddler (TWNP) Season Opener at Daniels

RSVP's for this event open Thursday March 13th at 9:00 PM

There are spots reserved for renters at all paddles even if the paddle is otherwise full.  Renters and members who have paid the voluntary annual dues will receive priority on the wait list over those who have not.

I am making this paddle Cold Water Attire Strongly Encouraged but not required.  If you have the right gear, please wear it.  On this section of the Patapsco, water less than knee deep is never more than a couple of steps away so you can usually stand up and immediately be out of the cold water but you're still going to be wet and very cold.  If you don't have Cold Water Attire please bring dry clothes to change into in case you do get wet.  Wear synthetic fabrics and avoid cotton at all costs. Depending on water temps I may have to change this to Cold Water Attire Required.

Our  now world famous regular Wednesday Night Paddles have begun for the 2014 season.  The time is the "on the water time".  Please plan to arrive early enough to have your boat and gear ready to paddle promptly at 6:00 PM.  We DO NOT wait for people on Wednesday Nights because of limited daylight hours.

Sunset on April 16th, 2014 will be around 7:36 PM which should give us the time to get up stream to the swimming hole OR at least the big bend for a few minutes of socialization before heading back to Daniels.

The Wednesday Night Paddler (TWNP) is a chance for everyone to paddle off the work day stress while working on paddling technique and staying in shape.  Of course it becomes quite a social event too.  TWNP is an opportunity for everyone regardless of boat type or skill level to paddle in the safety and camaraderie of a group as long as you have access to a boat, PFD and paddle.  Many members bring a snack or something to share with the group during the social time out of our boats.

There will be rental kayaks (including a paddle and PFD) available for this paddle at the Wednesday Night price of $30.00. ($25.00 for members who have paid the voluntary dues)  If you require one please indicate that by answering the rental question when you RSVP.

Nice to have you in the group Roberta. You will find that one thing that distinguishes our group is a consistent willingness to help others in the group. I am sure you will get your chance to reciprocate in the future. :-)

So great to finally see you all on the water, it was a great first paddle for me!! Thanks to Chuck for the kayak, and special thanks to Lynda (for the wet suit and hauling my kayak onto shore), and Kimmie (for rain pants, shoes and proper paddling lesson :)

A little on the chilly side but still a great paddle. I especially appreciated the exceptional selection of unhealthy food we had tonight. Thanks for coming everyone

A good time as always - and awesome chocolate stuff - cookies and brownies and double chocolate muffins! What more could you ask for - except maybe okra crisps ;)

Sorry to have to change my RSVP. Roofers arrived bright and early this am and I hadn't moved my car out of the garage so it's blocked in for the day. Hope to see everyone at Sunday's paddle.

Good morning Chuck. I cannot make it tonight due to work. I am hoping to get out quite a bit this season and will need to rent a kayak each time. I will be certain to let you know, via...RSVP. Thanks so much and have a great time!

Um...no. Backing out. That makes 2 weeks in a row. Just kick me to the curb and boot me out. It's freakin snowing. I buy in to the 90% chance of sunshine but not the "air temp is 15 degrees colder than the water temp". Another year where we get 2 days of spring:)

Hi Chuck. Just checking to see if you have a kayak rental for me. If it is cold weather gear only, I will have to pass on this. Thanks.

Hey Robin, you didn't request a boat when you RSVP'ed but I do have a boat for you. Cold water gear is optional for tomorrow but the air temp is only going to get to 50 degrees so you want to dress warmly.

Not looking good for my schedule tomorrow and rather cold so I am going to pass. Chuck -- I will get in touch about how to check out the LL 12.5....

    April 15, 2014
