Try the New (and Maybe a Couple of the Old) Rental Boats for Free

Especially great for newer kayaking friends!  Just come at any time between the hours listed and see what you could be renting!  Come early or late, and try a boat and get to know the paddlers of CKA!!!

We have lots of new members with various levels of paddling experience.  Some of you have boats and some of you don't.  This is an opportunity for everyone to check out their skills in our new Venture Islay 14  and Easky 15 rental fleet and learn a little bit more about this group you joined.

There may even be a couple of the old Liquid Logic Inuit rentals still running around so it may be a chance to get a great used boat at a fantastic price if you're in the market.  If you're looking to buy a kayak this is a great opportunity to learn what sort of features to look for.

This really doesn't qualify as one of our typical paddles but rather a chance for you to get out on the water for anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes in a kayak in the area immediately near the put in.

The event is come and go as you please until 8:30 PM.  I'll probably get there around 3:00 PM so if you can get there a little bit early feel free to do so.

If you get there by 6:00 PM there will be a very brief (15-20 minute), free, off water instruction session hitting the highlights of proper paddling technique.  There will be no on water instruction.

I have no idea what to expect for a turn out at this even but parking at the Pig Tail Recreation Area on Triadelphia Reservoir is a bit limited.  If a lot of people sign up we may move to a different put in on Triadelphia a couple miles away.

To paddle at Traidelphia or Rocky Gorge Reservoirs you must purchase a day use permit for $6.00 or a season permit for $70.00. They can be purchased online at www.wsscwater.com or at the shack near Brighton Dam (doesn't open until 7:00 AM).  With 7 different kayak launch point between them we will paddle enough on Triadelphia and Rocky Gorge to more than pay for the season pass if you attend regularly.

Our new Venture Islay 14 and Easky 15 rentals are absolutely top of the line, mid range, touring, sit inside, sea kayaks.  They are the real deal, not the cheap, 10 year old, recreational kayaks you rent most everywhere else.  They sell for $1300. to $[masked] and I really believe you can't buy a better boat in this category.  Come see why.  There are like Ferraris compared to what you will find for rent most other places for the same price.

Right now the forecast looks like we should have temps in the high 80's under partly sunny skies with winds out of south at 9 MPH and a very tiny chance of rain.

I enjoyed my short paddle. Thanks for hosting Chuck. I talked with someone on the water about a doctor recommendation for her neck but I couldn't remember the doctors name. The doctors name is Randy Davis. He's a Hopkins neurosurgeon who sees patients at Baltimore Washington Hospital in AA County. Good luck!

we got t total of about 8 minutes of torrential downpour at 7:30 and then the sun came out again. Of course by then I had everything packed up so we called it quits for the night. Thanks for coming everyone.

Sorry to have to call out so late, I'm still on the road traveling after two delayed flights (must be storms somewhere!) and still not home yet. My apologies.

Chuck, I have a guy coming to install an A/C tomorrow. He said he would be done by 5:00 but want to give a heads up that there is a chance I won't make it. I'll try to remember to let you know asap if I can't make it.

I just don't seem to have very good luck when it comes to contractors showing up on time or being done when they say they are going to be done. Hopefully I can get out with you guys.

I'd love to do this - I just can't make it there by 5 pm on Monday. Maybe another session on a weekend?

Hunter - So show up at 6:00 or 7:00 and stay as long as you can. I'll be there until sunset. This isn't a paddle with a destination. It's a chance to try the boats and learn more about the group and kayaking. I expect people to be coming and going all night.
