St Mary's City Paddle with St Marys' College Concert Picnic Afterwards

RSVPs open on June 10th at 9:00 PM!

This trip has us paddling on the St Mary's River from the St Mary's College boat ramp to Tippity Witchity Island and back for a total paddle distance of about 8 miles.

The actual attendance limit for this paddle is 30 paddlers.  6 spots have been set aside for people who will be renting kayaks.  If you are a renter on the waiting list I will move you to the attending list.   Those spots not filled by renters 24 hours before the paddle will be filled with members on the waiting list who have paid the voluntary dues.  Everyone has the same chance to sign up for the first 24 slots.

Basically the idea is to paddle from the St Mary's College boat ramp in the afternoon and then go to the free St. Mary's College Concert afterward before heading home.  Of course, if you can't stay... we understand.  But if you can stay, plan to bringing a picnic dinner (including wine, beer or the beverage of your choice) for the concert after the paddle.  We also discovered a number of food vendors on site and only brought beverages.  But, they do have beer, wine, and liquor vendors as well.  The information about the concert is listed below.

Yes this is all happening on a Friday so you need to be able to take off or play hooky.  Point Look out is also a bit of a hike at around 100 miles (St Mary's City only saves 10 Miles) from the Baltimore area.  The time is tentative but we will probably be starting sometime a little bit after lunch.

We will meet at St Mary's College boat launch at 1:00 pm for a 1:30 pm on the water time.

The concert starts at 7:00 pm. We should have plenty of time to load kayaks and relax before the drive up to St Mary’s City.

Some of us are planning on camping at Point Lookout State Park for the weekend.  There are a few of us planning on attending the St Mary's Paddle on Friday, the concert on Friday night,  Jake's Tiki Paddle at Solomon's Island on Saturday, and the Mallows Bay on Sunday.  This isn't a formal camping trip.  We will just all try to camp together and have a good time.  As of now I have sites reserved for us already in the Greens Point loop sites 94, 95, 96, and 97.  This year we opted for the the more expensive electric sites because they are near the water and there aren't as many bitey insects there!  We can put 3-4 tents on each site.  We might have to park some cars at the overflow site.  I may decide to go down Thursday night, earlier, if others are interested.  Price per person will be based on the number of people per site.

They prefer you camp in tents. The motels are right near the concert or relatively close. The camping is at least a 20-30 min drive from concert.
