Point Lookout Paddle
The actual attendance limit for this paddle is 30 paddlers. 6 spots have been set aside for people who will be renting kayaks. If you are a renter on the waiting list I will move you to the attending list. Those spots not filled by renters 24 hours before the paddle will be filled with members on the waiting list who have paid the voluntary dues. Everyone has the same chance to sign up for the first 24 slots. Chuck will actually be heading up to Solomon's Island to provide rentals for Jake's Tiki Bar Paddle. But Kimmie will have boats available to rent. Sign up quickly, because Chuck will have rentals at both sites and they will go fast!!!!
We're at that time of year where weather changes rapidly anywhere near the Chesapeake Bay. We will do our best to plan paddle options that take everyone's skill level into account but depending on the weather you probably should be willing to deal with a little chop.
We will meet at Point Lookout State Park boat launch for a 10:30 AM on the water time, or you can stop by our camp sites at Greens Point Loop sites 94-97. Yes, we are camping. If interested, please let Kimmie know so she can make sure she gets enough sites. We are camping and paddling Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!
The boat launch is past the causeway on the right hand side. It is a double concrete launch site. There are bathroom facilities available and a small park store on site.
We will explore Canoy Lake and then into Hall Pond. There is a small bridge to go under and then on to a nice beach area take a break. We will then return towards the boat launch. If the weather and winds are favorable we will then paddle out the lake into the Potomac River and along the beach to the Point Lookout Lighthouse.
We should be on the water at least 3-4 hours, but we will make final plans on that day based on weather and activities.
Again, if you are interested in camping, let Kimmie know!
