Annapolis Christmas Lighted Boat Parade and Hike
With the end of the Wednesday Night Paddlers for the season last night it seems appropriate to start thinking about what we're going to do when it gets too cold to paddle. Last year the Annapolis Christmas Lighted Boat Parade proved to be a pretty good time and the lights on the boats were pretty neat.
We will again this year be joining a self guided hike/walk through Annapolis sponsored by the American Volkssport Association that starts from the parking lot at the Eastpoint Shopping Center.
There are 5K and 10K (about 3 and 6 mile) options. We will be doing the 10 K (6 Mile) option and leaving the parking lot at 1:30 PM which should allow for a somewhat leisurely pace and a stop for coffee and a little shopping before returning to the parking lot around 5:00 PM. If you're not up for a 6 mile walk try the 3 mile and if not that, Annapolis isn't the kind of place where you should have too much trouble killing a couple hours before meeting us back at the Eastport Shopping Center at 5:00 PM.
After the hike we will walk from Eastport to the 6th Street Brigdge to watch the Annapolis Christmas Lighted Boat Parade. After the parade we'll get in our cars and drive to a restaurant somewhere away from downtown Annapolis where it will be much easier to get tables for a larger group. Everything about the day is optional. Skip the hike and show up for the rest or any combination of the above that you want to put together.
Last year we tried to schedule this as a paddle followed by the lighted boat parade but it was way too cold to paddle so this year I'm going with the hike idea from the start. If it turns out to be unseasonably warm we can always make it a paddle from Truxton Park instead of a hike.
