Paddle Annapolis with Lunch at Davis Pub

Paddle Annapolis With Lunch at Davis Pub

This is a Wetsuit, Dry Suit or other appropriate COLD WATER ATTIRE REQUIRED paddle

With a high in the mid 60's under sunny skies and very mild winds, it's time for what may be the last Annapolis paddle of the season from Truxton Park.

Sunday, November 11, 2012 will find us on the water at 10:30 AM from the Truxton Park boat ramp on Spa Creek in Annapolis. Plan to arrive with plenty of time to get your boat and gear ready to launch promptly at 10:30 AM.

The put in is a nice little sandy beach immediately to the left of the boat ramp. Pull up, drop your boat and gear off and then move your car to the parking area a few hundred yards back up the road. There is no ramp fee for vehicles parked in the boat ramp parking area that do not have a trailer attached.

We'll paddle around the harbor in Annapolis and strut our stuff along side million dollar yachts through "Ego Alley" before heading out around the point of Eastport and in to Back Creek with a stop for lunch at Davis Pub in Eastport. If the water is too rough around the point we'll drive over to David Pub after the paddle. We should be back to the take out at Truxton Park sometime around 3:00 PM.

There are a limited number of rental kayaks available for this paddle at the weekend price of $50.00 which includes a paddle and PFD. To rent a kayak for this paddle you must have your own wetsuit or other appropriate cold water attire.

I think this is the 4th time this year that we've done this paddle and it is always a hit. Something about the right combination of easy paddling and slightly challenging chop with a group effort to get safely in and out at the dock which is always easier that everyone expects. Thanks for coming everyone.

The CORRECT address is 900 Truxton Park Road in Annapolis. The Meetup map when I look at it is absolutely correct for a change.

Awesome paddle. My wife and I did this last fall around the same time (oddly enough water and air temps about the same without any hurricane). Great launch spot. Cool houses.

Inland waters have dropped 20 degrees since hurricane Sandy and are now in the mid 40's. Tidal waters are about 5 degress warmer give or take a little. That is seriously cold water folks. We are way, way past the point where spring wetsuits or clothing designed to keep you warm in extremly cold (even sub zero) AIR temps are going to do any good. If you do not own clothing specifically designed to keep you warm and alive in very cold water you will not be allowed to attend any more paddles until the water warms up in the spring. I've tried to be really clear about this and have posted a lot of information in the Cold Water Attire thread in the discussion section. Please read it, watch the video and if you still have questions feel free to contact me directly.

No paddling for me..brrrh...maybe stop w/a couple of friends to meet you all at Davis' after - guesstimate what time will show at Davis?

    November 8, 2012

    • Chuck

It is supposed to be a lot warmer on Sunday, like 65 degrees but the water will be in the low 50's. We should be at Davis around 12:15 - 12:30 give or take a little.
