8 Mile Patuxent Rivers Hike from Savage Mill

8 Mile with a 6 Mile option Hike Along the Little and Middle Patuxent Rivers in Savage Park

We'll be hitting the trail promptly at 10:30 from the upper parking lot at Savage Mill for an 8 mile circuit hike along the Little and Middle Patuxent Rivers in Savage Park. This hike is one of Larry's favorites which is why he is an event host for this Meetup.

Larry says that about half the hike is along either the Little Patuxent River or the Middle Patuxent River. The area is very hilly and some of them are steep but not very long uphills. That should make this hike somewhere in the neighborhood of moderate with some strenuous hills. Pack a snack for a break somewhere around the mid point.

As we are hitting the trail from the Savage Mill Upper Parking lot, it's a bit of a natual to stop in at the Ram's Head in Savage Mill After the hike for a beer or a coffee and a sandwich or more. This should be a really great hike and a great time afterwards.

Larry put together a really nice hike. The trails of Savage Park as they wind around the Patuxent Rivers are very nice. It was a great group with a number of the usual guilty parties ande three newbies. Thanks for coming everyone.

Great hike, nice to be out in the fresh air and sunshine, and to hang with some of the "usual suspects" as well as meet new folks.

Anyone have an idea of the walking pace of the group? Just trying to get a general idea.

Fairly easy, and a pace everyone can maintain. I can also show you some shortcuts if you need them.
