A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Yes, I have my own PFD and other safety gear, including serious cold water gear.

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I kayaked 4 years just for fun and have now been taking lessons seriously since Summer 2011. I've done paddle float re-entry in 3 safety classes, several day long strokes classes and some private lessons, a bracing class -- BUT still learning it and am a newbie.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

own a wooden baidarka by Rob Macks, newly improved by Boris Gozhansky with all kinds of neat extras, like a water reservoir behind the rear bulkhead

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

What's not to like?

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

Improve skills, safety in numbers, meet paddlers, go places, save the planet, see the world!
