(Mostly) local kid who is finally starting to really enjoy the beauty that is in and around the Metro DC area. Mostly paddle the Potomac and Occoquan.

A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

Some whitewater, some flatwater. Mostly the lakes and rivers around Fairfax County for the last 4-5 years.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

Dagger Blackwater 10.5 and Wilderness Systems Tusnami 125

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

Started kayaking again to gets back in shape. Forgot how much I love being on the water.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

I have been paddling with Washington Kayak and Northern Virginia Kayak lately. Looking for a variety of paddling locations, and more fun people to paddle with (I promise, if I learn something it will be by accident).

    Chesapeake Kayak Adventures

Hey Scott - Welcome to Chesapeake Kayak Adventures. Following Randi's lead, we have lots of women that need some man muscles to help with their boats. :) I try to leave the Virginia stuff to the groups down there but please cross the border and come paddle with us often. Oh and accidents do happen with us but fun is guaranteed. Welcome.

Hey Scott, hope you are going to be able to make this May date. James may have to drop off so I might need some man muscles to help with my boat. (pretty please!)

Great seeing you at the Happy Hour. Thank you for being a supporter of the "newbie kayaker" during my kayak trip at fountainhead. Hope to kayak with you again.

I got it. So you need to practice session with belay test. I think you got the three session package? But you need the practice session/belay test next before you take the third technique class, right?

Hey Scott, are you going to take the basic skills course again at Sport Rock or something else?

Hey Scott! It's great to have another real paddler involved in our kayak events. You're a great addition to our group, and I hope you'll join us next time. We missed having you at the Main St. Pub in Clifton which was a lot of fun. We may not be the best paddlers around, but we always have fun because we include FUN in the plan. See you next time...

Scott, Have you tried Belle Haven Marina or Pohick Bay Park. I left the meetup today, didn't stay long and ended up kayaking out there. Clear water and nice little islands you can get off on.
