A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

No I do not, but will get one if I need to.

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I kayaked for the first time in May 2011. I then took 2 lessons from an outfitter and kayaked probably 4 or 5 times over last summer.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I will need a rental kayak, but intend to eventually buy one.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

I love being so close to the water and being able to paddle in shallow tributaries where I often see wildlife. But I also like the challenge of the open water. It is so quiet and peaceful and I can paddle as fast or slow as I want. And it's a good workout besides!

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

That sums it up for me: improve my paddling skills, get exercise and fresh air, be out on the water and meet some great new people.

Introduction

I'm looking forward to kayaking again!
