A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I have taken the basic paddling and rescue skills classes offered by the REI Outdoor School, and have paddled my Pungo 120 on the Occaquan at Powhick Bay, at Fountainhead, on Centennial Lake, and along the water trails at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge on the Eastern Shore.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I own a Pungo 120.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

I love kayaking for relaxation and to explore nature. Paddling is serene and the fitness benefits are great, too!

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

I hope to improve my skills and also to discover new water trails in the area.

Hi Chuck! Thanks for creating this group. I have a Pungo 120, and have taken basic paddling and rescue skills classes. Looking forward to future Meetups! -- Janna
