A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Yep

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I have been paddling for over 15 years. I routinely will do longer trips between 10 and 20 miles and paddled around the island of Crete in the Mediteranean which gave me some ocean experience and a lot of beach-landing practice. i also have experience in building kayaks and with fibreglass repair. what i paddle, i usually have built. I am currently working on a strip-built petrel. I also have developed a very reliable sweep role....try to keep it fresh with pool practice during the winter and rolling during summer paddles.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

i own a strip built night heron and a stitch and glue Shearwater 17. i have a custom petrel that I commissioned and should be here for the 2017 season

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

i fly a desk during the day so getting away and being in the outdoors is how i keep my sanity. i do it to relax. i also enjoy 'exercise' paddles where you take a couple hours and really get a work out. i also like teaching people who are new. recently i built a boat for my daughter . she is becoming an excellent paddler.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

enjoy paddling with others who are just nice and easy-going. happy to teach and help people who are interested in the sport. always looking to improve my own skills too. also happy to help and advise folks who are interested in building their own boat.
