I've been paddling a kayak for almost 20 years now. I started out as a whitewater paddler and migrated over the years to mostly flatwater but can still get talked into some very easy whitewater on rare occasions. My paddling curriculum vitae includes seven years as a kayak instructor for L.L Bean and I'm entering my fourth year as the principle leader or organizer of a paddling group.

I wrote the question and yes I am one of the true crazies. The world looks like a kinder, gentler and a much more beautiful place from the seat of a kayak. Proper torso rotation during paddle strokes also helps keep my belt a couple notches tighter.
I really enjoy helping others discover the joys of kayaking. I started the Wednesday Night Paddler because I thought it would help me stay in shape by forcing me to get put and paddle at least one night a week. I've met and learned from lots of really interesting people and made some new true friends as a result. I hope to continue to enjoy meeting and learning from many more people in this new venue.

As the group organizer hopefully you would expect me to say this is an awesome group. It is! I think most of you would acknowledge that I put a fair amount of blood sweat and tears into making it great and I do. Despite everything I do though, this group wouldn't be half as awesome as it is without a whole bunch of truly fantastic members. Thank you everyone.
