A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

I don't yet have a PFD but I may have access to one if I can convince a kayaking buddy to join the group with me and bring his equipment.

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I took the LL Bean Discovery School kayaking course on Centennial Lake several times a few years ago but have not been kayaking regularly since then.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I expect to rent or borrow.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

I love the sparse feeling of being on the water in a small boat. I get a fair amount of leg activity and I need more upper body and core work.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

Skill improvement; learning about MD's small waterways; finding new friends and coaxing old friends to be active.

Introduction

I am a recently senior citizen enjoying new vigor and youthfulness since healing over the last decade from a lifetime medical issue. I am a Maryland boy who grew up on the Bay in my father's powerboats, but I'm relatively new to kayaking.
