A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

yes

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

Potomac river, flat waters and riffles from DC to Point of Rocks. Also St. John, USVI in near-shore open water.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

Two Blackwater 12 foot dagger polyethylene kayaks, one inflatable kayak, auto roof rack, wheeled cart, other accessories.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

All of the above, really: to get out in natural world and see wildlife; explore the terrain; rhythmic upper body exercise; visual immersion in scenery; enjoy sharing it all with family and friends.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

Safety of a group while exploring new waters; meet other kayakers and enjoy the excitement together.

Introduction

I like to Kayak on flat water or riffles in the Potomac River, and want to explore the Chesapeake Bay region's coasts, rivers and creeks.
