A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Yes but I swim almost every time I kayak so I keep it safely strapped to the hull in case the kayak starts to sink! ;) Sorry for my bad sense of humor, I wear it if the water is dangerous. But like I said earlier, I swim almost every time I kayak and a PFD just just doesn't work.

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I kayaked the local rivers and resevoirs until about 6 years ago. Now I mostly paddle the bay and its marshes. I have a cabin south of Vienna and I often kayak Fishing bay. I have also done some surf kayaking as well as run the Yough in a duckie a few times. I have been able to eskimo roll but I lost it over the winter a couple years ago. I need to work on getting it back so I can white water kayak with my sons! I enjoy many water sports/activies from racing sunfish to scuba diving.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

A couple touring kayaks, a big yak surf kayak and some rec kayaks but my 17 ft yellow Eclipse gets the most use.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

I kayak to explore the waterways and see as much of nature as I can. If it helps get me some excersise all the better.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

Find some new kayaking areas and make a few more kayaking friends. Maybe a few happy hour friends and dancing partners as well. :) Life is short play hard!

I have kayaked for 12 years and I am looking for some new kayaking friends and some new places to kayak. I would also like to learn from my peers as much as I can about kayaking and their equipment. I
