General Resources

American Canoe Association

One of the ultimate authorities for anything paddling.

American Whitewater

While obviously targeted at whitewater paddlers their river information section is useful to everyone.

Paddling.net

Perhaps one of the Internet's best paddling resources. You may have to drill in a few pages but you can find virtually anything about paddling that you are looking for here from kayak reviews by members to useful articles about everything paddling.

USGS Real Time River Gauge Data For Maryland

This is raw real time data from the gauges that needs to be interpreted but it can give you a relative indication of of whether river levels are too, too high or just right to safely paddle. The American Whitewater site above takes this data and suggests what levels are too high, too low or just right for some rivers.

Phone Applications

I couldn't find either of these applications for Android but they are both really great on the iPhone and I suspect they will be available for Android soon.

RiverGuide For Kayakers

RiverGuide is the essential tool for the kayaker, rafter, or canoeist on the go. With access to thousands of real time streamflow gauges throughout the US, you'll never be wondering what's running in your area and what's not. With a few taps of your fingers, you will know the cubic feet per second (cfs) your favorite river is running, the relative level high, med or low and when the information was last recorded. Arriving at the put-in to find the river only at a trickle, should be a thing of the past.

Simple Tides

Simple no-nonsense app to see tide graphs and tables from monitoring stations near you.
