The Totem was in a mask and Carving legacy of our late President Frank Underbrinck.
The Totem is a single carved polychrome carving, 6"x24", displaying 2 Buddhist guardians demons. Ferocious as they may appeared with huge threatening fangs, they are preoccupied with staving of evils.

It is a small island tidal inlet in the Caribbean that separates Jaina Island from the Yucatan mainland and the island is somewhat west of the archaeological sites of UXMAL and KABAH. However Jaina was also a huge necropolis with an estimated 20,000 graves of which 1,000 have been archaeologically investigated. CAS is fortunate to have Dr. Donal Mc Vicker as a Speaker. Dr. Mc Vicker is a renowned archaeologist who has made the study of Jaina last Rite and Funerary Rituals along with the interpretations of Jaina ceramic figurines.
Some speculations surround the meaning of the name of the island which may have come from the MAYA word Hail-na or Watery house. It's western location may have been tied to the setting Sun, and therefore to death......
