Sam, Thank you for the November post regarding my son James. He was a gentle caring person. Very intelligent on gear and absolutely loved the hike. I can only dream of the beautiful nature sites that he actually saw. He found solitude in backpacking and enjoyed teaching it to new comers and enjoyed all the company of the people he hiked with. Hey Sam, welcome. Billy Goat A is more like a morning hike. Lots of non-jokers, trail runners, and folks in sneakers. I don't know how the group will take it, but if you branch off trail toward the river there's lots of impromptu bouldering available. I've even taken my 2&1/2 old daughter on the trail, though I carry her most of the way. Have fun!
