Trivia at Michael Diversey's

This is our usual Sunday spot. We're here just about every week!

For those new to the group, we usually form up two teams, sometimes three (8 person max per team), so we'll have a sign on the table(s) indicating that it's us. We're usually at the back of the bar. Trivia starts promptly at 8 o'clock so we try to get there a little early to get settled in. It usually ends around 10:30 and occasionally some of us stay afterwards to hang out.

Trivia is free; however, the bar does ask that you spend at least $5 on food and/or drink otherwise they reserve the right to charge you $5. But lets not have that happen. They've got good drink specials and really good food. You should eat something. Your mother worries about you.

Trivia at Michael Diversey's consists of 5 regular rounds with 10-12 questions each and a speed round to finish things up.

Round 1 is a picture round.

Round 2 is a general trivia round but all 10 of the answers are themed. So maybe you have the answers "Ford Bronco" and "Lincoln Logs." At that point, the theme might be car brands or U.S. Presidents. Figuring out the theme gets you 2 points and can assist you in figuring out some of the other questions.

Round 3 is typically a music round. You get ½ a point for the artist and ½ a point for the song title.

Round 4 can be anything.

Round 5 is usually chosen the week before by the team that comes in fifth place.

You are also allowed to double one of the first 5 rounds. So if you are pretty sure about all twelve answers in a particular round, double it to get 24.

The sixth round is a speed round. It consists of one question with 30 possible answers. It could be something like "Most populous cities in the U.S." or "current members of the Chicago Blackhawks." There's really no telling until he reveals the question. At that point you've got about 4 minutes to write down as many answers as possible.

On Sunday afternoon, the M.C. will post the topics for the rounds on Facebook and clues for Round 2 on Twitter.  I'll copy and paste them in the comments section so you know what you're getting yourself in to.

This week features two chosen categories because the one from the 13th wasn't done this past week. So Round 4 will be about shows on the CW (Vampire Diaries, Hart of Dixie, Arrow.. whatever the hell else they show on the CW) and Round 5 will be Chicago History. So if you know a little bit about Chicago and/or are an avid viewer of the C-Dub, this is your night.

We'll see you Sunday!

Watch your step out there. The sidewalks are covered in slush. It's kind of treacherous.

A quick Google search on George Stephanopoulos returns this: http://m.usatoday.com/article/news/1851721 I guess the clue is related to that - basketball players, or actors?

TRIVIA TONIGHT Michael Diversey's 8PM TOPICS BELOW
RD 1- ALL I WILL SAY ABOUT TONIGHT'S PICTURE ROUND IS IF GEORGE STEPHANOPOLOUS IS ON YOUR TEAM YOU WILL DO POORLY ;)
RD 2- GENERAL TRIVIA (CLUES HAVE BEEN TWEETED @BRAINSPORTZ)
RD 3- SONGS YOU KNOW BY "HEART"
RD 4- CITY OF CHICAGO TRIVIA
RD 5- THE CW TV SHOWS
    RD 6- SPEED ROUND SPORTZ

Round 1 is people that George Stephanopolous can't tell apart. I don't get the joke but I'm sure it's funny. Round 3 looks like it'll be songs with "Heart" in the title. So maybe "Where do broken hearts go?" or "Quit playing games with my heart." I shouldn't have to clue you guys in on what round 3 would mean, actually. You should have known from the start ;)

Hopefully round 3 is actually about the fabulous Wilson sisters, but your guess is probably more accurate...
