Trivia at Michael Diversey's

We're skipping Michael Diversey's on the 24th due to the Oscar's and will return the following week.

This is our usual Sunday spot. We're here just about every week!

For those new to the group, we usually form up two teams, sometimes three (8 person max per team), so we'll have a sign on the table(s) indicating that it's us. We're usually at the back of the bar. Trivia starts promptly at 8 o'clock so we try to get there a little early to get settled in. It usually ends around 10:30 and occasionally some of us stay afterwards to hang out.

Trivia is free; however, the bar does ask that you spend at least $5 on food and/or drink otherwise they reserve the right to charge you $5. But lets not have that happen. They've got good drink specials and really good food. You should eat something. Your mother worries about you.

Trivia at Michael Diversey's consists of 5 regular rounds with 10-12 questions each and a speed round to finish things up.

Round 1 is a picture round.

Round 2 is a general trivia round but all 10 of the answers are themed. So maybe you have the answers "Ford Bronco" and "Lincoln Logs." At that point, the theme might be car brands or U.S. Presidents. Figuring out the theme gets you 2 points and can assist you in figuring out some of the other questions.

Round 3 is typically a music round. You get ½ a point for the artist and ½ a point for the song title.

Round 4 can be anything.

Round 5 is usually chosen the week before by the team that comes in fifth place.

You are also allowed to double one of the first 5 rounds. So if you are pretty sure about all twelve answers in a particular round, double it to get 24.

The sixth round is a speed round. It consists of one question with 30 possible answers. It could be something like "Most populous cities in the U.S." or "current members of the Chicago Blackhawks." There's really no telling until he reveals the question. At that point you've got about 4 minutes to write down as many answers as possible.

On Sunday afternoon, the M.C. will post the topics for the rounds on Facebook and clues for Round 2 on Twitter.  I'll copy and paste them in the comments section so you know what you're getting yourself in to.

The chosen topic will be famous TV neighbors. So guys like Mr. Jefferson, Steve Urkel, and Wilson. WILLLLSSSSSOOOOON! Alright, I'm done..

We'll see you there!

Since, I'm not coming I decided to help out: Round 2:
    Bonus is "Lion" in Title:
The Tokens – The Lion Sleeps Tonight (song)
Mike Tramp – Member of the band White Lion
R&B/Country Duet – Snoop Lion/Willie Nelson “Roll me up and Smoke me when I die” (I shit you not)
Literary Characters – Way too many choices without the clue. The Character could be a lion (Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia series , Cowardly Lion) or a character from a book with Lion in the title (Nelson DeMille’s The Lion’s Game)
Anthony Hopkins – Lion in Winter (he was REALLY young)
CFL – Candian Football League – B.C. Lions
Nelson DeMille – Oh Whatd’ya know! Author of The Lions Game
Liam Neeson – Voiced Aslan the Lion in The Chronicles of Narnia series – HA! Weird!
Bedford Falls – Town in It’s a Wonderful Life – Artisan Entertainment took over home video rights which later got sold to Lion’s Gate which reverted to Paramount in 2005. No idea what else it could be though.

For the r&b one I thought it was lionel richie because he has some country duets album or whatever. "Snoop lion" is technically a rapper. Bedford falls is lionel barrymore

You're TOTALLY right. I didn't even THINK about Lion and Lionel. I have the case of the dumbs.

I have a massive headache, chills, and my voice sounds like a 90 year old smoker. I could be catching a cold, the flu, or my death. So, I should stay at home tonight. If anyone WANTS to get sick, I'll gladly come by and take sips of your beer!
