Chicago C/C++ Users Group Message Board › Volunteers needed
Our organization is in a strange position.
On the plus side, we now have 332 members, 50 of whom attended our last meeting, and 38 have registered for October 23. Although some of the "members" are non-Chicagoans who will never attend one of our events, those figures clearly put the Chicago C/C++ Users' Group high up in the ranks of successful local professional groups.
On the minus side, we've been struggling with interim volunteers who got a late start this summer and have been having far too much trouble putting together an October program. We also have posted proposed permanent by-laws that have so far accumulated 2 votes from the members! We face the prospect of fizzling out, as many of our sister organizations have done, if we don't get organized under elected permanent (for a year) conscientious officers.
NOW is the time for interested and enthusiastic members either to volunteer their own services or to nominate qualified colleagues to run the organization in 2012-2013. And please let's get those by-laws approved, either as they are or with suitable changes.
Our sincere thanks to to Olinga Abbott for launching this organization three years ago, and to our interim steering committee, Jay Shachter, Rene Rivera, and John Welch, for keeping it going.
