Led by local musician Peter Ferry, the Micro-concert Series at Roman Susan presents musical performances in a new format: twenty-minute events highlighting contemporary composition with post-concert space for community discussion.
Micro No. 3 will feature True Colours by John Thrower, a musical piece for solo marimba that will include video artwork created for Ferry by artist Xuan. After the performance, there will be a short discussion of the work and space for group conversation with other Ferry and audience members.
As with all events held at Roman Susan, the Micro-concert series will be a free event. This performance will coincide with the gallery’s current visual exhibit: More Than A Place (http://romansusan.org/more).
Praised as a “percussion genius… celebrating percussion in a stunning, thoughtful way,” (Democrat and Chronicle) Rogers Park-based percussion soloist Peter Ferry is quickly gaining recognition for compelling performances of contemporary works by living composers. Previous events in the Micro-concert series featured Barracuda by Jacob TV and Staying the Course by David Macbride.
