Sunday AM - C25K Run/Walk Training - Week 6

Week 6 - Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

My idea for this training is that we meet once a week on Sunday, where we will follow the couch to 5K running program to get those who are not runners the chance to follow a program with a group.  The program calls for 3 runs a week using this schedule posted at at this link.

We will kick off each week on a Sunday with the first run of the week and then you will be responsible for completing the other 2.  You can always post a suggested meetup for others to join you to keep you on track. It is expected that you have stayed on track with the program by the time you come to each following Sunday's check-in / next week kickoff.

As we get closer, we may schedule some more hilly runs at a nature preserve, or perhaps do some more targeted training as I do more research about it.  There are some training programs online that will give some tips for things we can do.  And as always, engaging in regular strength training, and walking regularly will help you, so engage in that now!  Don't wait!

You do not need to do the Mud Run to participate in these, but you will be expected to stay on schedule with us once you start.

Please note that I am not a personal trainer, and that you are engaging in this at your own risk!

Considering that I am just now getting to bed, I am going to make an executive decision and not attend this week's jog. Have fun! :-)

I don't know if I will be at this one. I'm scheduled to get back home at like 6:30 or 7am. I might be too tired. But we'll see.

Ran in the rain today! OK, jogged. Lightly jogged. Mostly walked. Errr nothing like listening to Mariah Carey in the rain. Hope my iPods OK.
Since I have not downloaded the app, I just jogged one song, walked on song. So roughly three minutes times.

I will also be biking the drive. Thinking of doing a run early morning on Monday instead, in a cool shady forest preserve :-)
