Thursday PM - "Yoga Basics" at Ganesha Yoga and Adventures in Fitness

"Yoga Basics" is designed to help you kick off your new yoga practice and learn the fundamentals. If this is your first time taking a class at Ganesha, then you can enjoy your FIRST CLASS at the studio for FREE! And enjoy a BONUS FREEBIE class when you mention that you signed up through the Chicago Curvy Girls meetup site. [Please plan to arrive a few minutes early for check-in BEFORE the 6:30 p.m. class start time, as the doors will typically lock when class starts.]

About the class: This class is appropriate for new students of yoga and others, including plus sizes, seeking a more accessible practice. Taught by yours truly, a plus-size instructor, this foundational, hatha-style yoga class is designed to provide you with lots of encouragement and support as you become comfortable with breathing, body alignment and pose sequences. Poses are performed on the floor from various reclining, seated, hands and knees, and standing positions and may also include some gentle, inverted positions. Modified techniques, incorporating various yoga props and the wall, are also offered to help make the practice of yoga more accessible.

Please discuss with the instructor before the start of class any special physical modifications needed. All props (blankets, bolsters, blocks and straps) in addition to yoga mats are available at the studio but please feel free to bring along your own favorite mat, if you have one. As for what to wear, tops and pants/shorts made of comfortable and stretchable fabrics that allow you to move easily and freely are recommended. Nothing to wear in your closet? No worries, as Ganesha's retail store offers a great variety of fitness clothing for a wide range of different sizes, including plus sizes!

About Pricing: After you've used your two Freebie classes (as noted above), drop-ins are $16 per class. Class card options and an unlimited monthly option are also available for purchase. See studio website for details as well as the latest updates on options or specials that might apply.

About parking: Free parking on Fletcher or Barry; free parking on Greenview before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.; pay meters on Lincoln; pay meters on Greenview during day; and pay meter lot on Greenview, just south of Belmont.

I'm loving this meetup group more and more. Tamara our instructor was excellent! I came out feeling so relaxed and excited about yoga all at the same time!

That's great Mykael! Tamara was actually a substitute from the regular teacher Michele - so I'm glad you liked her. Al of the instructors at Ganesha are great! I meant to go last night but forgot to pack my yoga clothes.

Dear Students - I wanted to let you know that there will be another teacher, Tamra Armour, sub teaching the class for me this week as I have an event to attend. I hope you will enjoy the class with Tamra, and I'll be back to teach the following week as usual. Namaste!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
