Screening of "Out of the Past" With Q & A Afterwards

Out of the Past (1947) Directed by Jacques Tourneur and starring Robert Mitchum and Jane Greer. Many critics consider this the best film noir of all time and they may be right. Mitchum, in his first major starring role excels as a one-time private eye trying to escape his past. The classic noir costars Kirk Douglas and Rhonda Fleming, both soon to be major stars in their own right.

General Admission: $5, Students and Senior Citizens: $3

This was my first time seeing this movie, and I can see why Kirk Douglas became a movie star, every time he was in scene, he dominated the screen, even against the female lead!!

You're right. He had amazing screen presence right from the start. He really had a way of displaying a kind of restrained rage. Great observation, Martha. So glad you're a part of the Film Club.

Well, I'm biased, but I thought this was one of the best group discussions after "Out of the Past," a movie that was "new" to many.

How many fans/members have seen this classic? Mitchum got his first real starring vehicle with this film and it solidified his image as a tough guy. The film is very naturalistic in its acting and on-location filming. It has a lot going for it and that's why it's last in the series.
