Talk "Seven Samurai" @ Argo Tea

We made this last meetup work, even though no one was a fan of the movie choice "Super 8". But we had a great discussion about movies from our childhood that brought movie magic. We also talked about the great movies (like E.T.) that have been ripped off poorly by other directors (JJ Abrams).

So this time I've put my movie choice for next month's discussion in the hands of the group. Tonight the majority agreed on discussing the Kurosawa classic "Seven Samurai" (1954). I don't think I've seen this film, so it will be a pleasure going off the group's recommendation. See you at our usual film discussion spot at Argo Tea off Broadway at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, April 24th. See you then!

went in thinking I had nothing to say that was profound of the film, but as always I was inspired by the group and engaged more then I thought I would :)

I would like to say it was good to see everyone tonight, and some insightful things were brought forward that move me to reconsider the film (for the better).

Nice Samurai poster, Gari. I imagine Mifune as "Grumpy", and all the villagers as "Dopey".

Thanks, Al. I guess we should have set some time aside this evening to figure out which Dwarfs matched up best with each Samurai. :-P

It was cool to meet some of you at Wilde earlier this month and I'm looking forward being there.

All I am saying is if she employed Samurai over dwarfs, the wicked Queen may never had caught up with her.

Saw "True Legend" on TV yesterday (Showtime), loved it. Not a Japanese film, but it was pretty cool. Now I can see where some of the Matrix and Kill Bill martial arts moves came from. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1425257/

Anyone in this group has seen Yoji Yamada's Trilogy? English titles of this trilogy are: "The Twilight Samurai", "The Hidden Blade" and "Love and Honor". Watch them in any order.

"The Twilight Samurai" is a great movie! Have you seen "Kabei: Our Mother"?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
