Let's have great conversation and drinks

Hello Chicago Film Lovers!

I've decided to have our next social meetup at our usual spot, Wilde Bar & Resturaunt. For two reasons: $5 Dirty Martinis on Thursday nights and it's usually no issue for a big group to book last minute. Better safe then sorry. So see all of you Thursday, July 11th at 8:00 PM at Wilde Bar & Restaurant (table in the back, most likely), reservation under "Rebecca" to talk about what we love (film) :). See you then!

Your proud to be organizer,

Rebecca

John Boorman's "Hope and Glory," 1987. Semi-autobiographical and as much about family as it is about war. Very moving and actually very funny as well. One of my faves.

After the majority of the group had retired for the evening, this event was brought up; Al asked me to post it here.

Saw this article about a wax museum that's so bad, it might actually be trolling the people visiting it!

My favorite is the shrunken-headed Keanu Reeves.

Comments/Predictions about Lars von Trier's new film "Nymphomaniac"? I'm intrigued. I'm a big fan of his past work, but not sure how this one is going to turn out, killer cast (not always a good thing). Please share: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1937390/?licb=0.6930942358735995

In other words, it'll leave several thousand people dead, only in stiletto heels and handcuffs? Well, I suppose if any director were going to conjure up that image, it would be von Trier, but only because Ken Russell and Russ Meyer are out of commission.

You can do a lot worse than following the legacy of Russell and Meyer (great comparison, BTW - "Antichrist" could be Trier's version of "The Devils", and "Nymphomaniac" his version of "Everything Russ Meyer Has Ever Done"). Plus, didn't he already leave billions dead in "Melancholia"?
