Get drunk and watch "The Room" at the Music Box!

On the heels of my poorly-researched suggestion to see Ain't Them Bodies Saints after it left the Music Box (sorry about that!), let me make it up to you by suggesting we partake in the unequalled cinematic experience that is The Room. Widely hailed as the worst movie ever made, The Room stars writer/director/producer Tommy Wiseau as a man betrayed when he discovers that his fiancee has cheated on him. The plot essentially ends there, with a parade of bad actors, non-sequiturs, and uncomfortable sex scenes taking its place. It's a masterpiece of incompetence in film making, and I think it would be a lot of fun to have a few drinks and catch the midnight screening.

(Time change! 10:45 drinks, movie at midnight. You can of course start early if you desire.)

Oh no! I missed this. Will anyone be going to watch "The Room" any time in the future?

The "Everything Wrong with the Room" clip is great, but it missed a big one - that they spent $6 million dollars making this disaster! Where did all the money go? Patton Oswalt has an idea:

D'Agostinos works for me! However, it occurs to me that my original suggestion for meeting at 10 seem slightly like overkill. Would people rather meet a little later? 10:30 or 11?

I don't know if the bar choice has been chosen yet, but I think we should go to the place we went to after Act of Killing. Obviously we'll be in different spirits :). D'agostino's on Southport and Addison Do you guys think that's a good idea? Let me know!

Al's input from FB: D'agostino's would work (*this* time it would be for The Killing of Acting. 8P ) I'd also suggest Toons two blocks north, mostly because it has a goofy name that sounds like "Room".

I'm taking Al's advice and watching The Room in the comfort of my own home tonight before joining all of you on Friday. As a former Rocky Horror regular (back in the '90s), I know how this goes and I'm sure he's right.

Just got my ticket! There's some great midnight movies coming up in the future as well, especially Scott Pilgrim vs. The World!

By the way, guys, forgot to mention: advance tickets are available at the link I provided. I have no idea what the demand will be like for this, but I'm going to buy my ticket ahead of time!

Excellent suggestion, Marissa! I'll bring the football. BTW, here's a helpful guide to watching "The Room" in a theater:

Best advice from the page - do NOT try drinking the scotch/vodka drink shown in the movie!

I'm more of a Troll 2 guy, but I also haven't sat down with this film yet, mainly because I think the hype might've already ruined it for me (and I rarely let hype dictate anything for me). This might be the best way to finally introduce myself to this little film. I'm in.

If you haven't seen "The Room" yet, I'd recommend checking it out on your own before you see it in a theater. The first and last 25 minutes are gold regardless, but you won't hear 75% of the dialogue in the middle, and if you're aware of the stupid things they're saying beforehand, it makes that part 9 times better.

Be sure to bring a large quantity of plastic spoons.

Also, I'm open to suggestions about where to go for drinks.
