Filmmaker Meetup

The meetup continues this time smack dab in the middle of your Halloween sugar crash and Thanksgiving food coma, join us on Wednesday, November 14th from 7-9pm to mix and mingle with local filmmakers! Come network and learn about projects that are looking for people right now. Maybe you have a project of your own? Looking for inspiration? Jump in, we won't bite!

Special Guest: Harper Robinson

Harper began his career in the film/television industry working on network reality shows such as “American Idol”, “The Biggest Loser”, and “So You Think You Can Dance.” He worked closely with the CEO of Stevens Entertainment Group Inc., where he contributed to the completion of a variety of successfully distributed films shot in the South. He also played an integral role in the development of a reality TV series as well as a fully accredited film production college program.

He has produced a number of short films that have played in many notable festivals. Most recently he Co-produced a short film entitled "KNIFE" that stared Charles Baker from the Emmy Award-winning AMC series “Breaking Bad”; Knife was an official selection of the 2012 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Currently, Robinson is a professor at the KD College's Motion Picture Program and "BEYOND POLLUTION" was his first feature length film.

*NOTE: Chicago Filmmakers will host the Chicago Premiere of BEYOND POLLUTION on Friday, November 16th at 8PM at the Second Unitarian Church of Chicago - 656 W Barry Ave.

For the uninitiated: this bimonthly networking event provides a chance for filmmakers to meet and collaborate on projects. Are you a screenwriter looking for a producer? A director looking for a director of photography? This event is open to anyone who is interested in making independent media: editors, actors, art directors, composers, make-up artists... Bring your resume and business cards, and we’ll handle the rest. Special guest speakers and community businesses will also be featured.

It's totally free and full of lots of cool people talking film... don't miss it!

Would have got 5 stars, but no refreshments. Let's all chip in a buck at the door next time so we can have beer, water, coke or something.

I met a lot of great people and potential collaborators for my upcoming short film project. The only thing I was missing was a chilled bottle of beer (I would have paid for of course!) See you guys next time!
