Come support creative teens and experience first love again through the eyes of youths in a very fun production of Romeo and Juliet. Volunteers are needed to help to run the event as front door greeters, ushers, and food servers, and some clean up afterwards. Volunteers will get to enjoy and watch the play as well.
Set in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, this interesting twist of Romeo and Juliet will excite and inspire you as youth portray Shakespeare’s famous lovers and friends in this year’s Mesh-n-Grooves Productions annual performance. Let us take you on a journey of discovering the star-crossed lovers New Orleans style. Set in steamy Louisiana, lovers meet in the midst of violence as the time worn story of two feuding families unfolds. The dialogs and characters have been updated to fit the new locale. There's a voodoo woman and witch doctor in this version! :)
Are the lovers able to overcome their destiny and live happily ever after or will they be swallowed up in passionate rivalry and the lust for power?
Dress Code: Volunteers should wear all black and comfortable shoes.
In addition to helping the show on Wednesday evening, there is an opportunity to come help as the setup crew on Tuesday and Wednesday during the day time as well, from 12 noon to 5 pm, shift time is flexible. We will be helping with stage and props and assist the young actors with rehearsal. A light board operator is needed if you feel comfortable controlling the stage lights.
