In the last several weeks, I've bee receiving e-mail inquiries from CFV members on the Serve-a-thon. THANK YOU all very much for the interest and thanks in advace to anyone who has already signed up and will be sharing their Saturday with Chicago Cares and Chicago Public Schools for this always fantastic project. It was brought to my attention that volunteers are STILL NEEDED as of this moment. With just under 3 weeks to this event, Chicago Cares is callin all hands on deck.
If you, your friends, family or anyone you know is able to commit a Saturday Morniing and afternoon to helping imporve the look of many of our city's schools (and in the longterm, improve the educational experience for the schools' children), consider joining the serve-a-thon as a volunteer lead.
below is a list of Serve-a-thon sites that are short of volunteer leads.
Banneker Elementary School
6656 S Normal
2456 N Mango
Carson Elementary School
5516 S Maplewood
Holden Elementary School
1104 W 31st St
Jackson (Mahalia) Elementary School
917 W. 88th St
Kanoon Elementary School
2233 S. Kedzie
Kinzie Elementary School
5625 S. Mobile Ave
Ryerson Elementary School
646 N Lawndale
West Humboldt Park
Whitney (Eli) Elementary School
2815 S Komensky Ave
The quickest and easiest way to sign up is: go to www.chicagocares.org.
there will be a button on the website's homepage that says "Register to lead" from there you can fill out your profile and select a site.
Very Important: be sure you will be committed to being at your school on June 9th as early as 7am. there will also be a site visit (mandatory) and an optional hands on training session for leads. So there IS plenty of guidance at your disposal.
As always, if you have general questions about the Serve-A-Thon experience, I can be reached directly via e-mail.
Thanks and have a great rest of the week!
