Break out and dust off the glowsticks for a special evening of music with UK's favorite new ravers, Klaxons! The London-based quartet is returning to the Windy City to tour behind their highly anticipated new album, Surfing the Void, due for an American release on August 23rd.

Klaxons first broke out onto the music scene in 2007 behind their smashing debut LP, Myths of the Near Future. The album was heavily promoted by various hype machine publications like NME and by the end of the year, the album even ended up winning the prestigious Mercury Prize, beating out strong releases like the Arctic Monkeys' Favourite Worst Nightmare and Bat For Lashes' Fur and Gold. Accolades aside, the album was a staple at many clubs throughout Europe, and they were one of the most popular and critically acclaimed bands of the year.

Their sound has been classified as "new rave", which I suppose could be described as a rock and dance-based sound wrapped around electronic fills, punk riffs, and funk beats. The best way to convey their sound to you though is to give you a link to one of their songs to sample. Take a listen to "Atlantis to Interzone" from Myths, a very representative example of the "new rave" sound off their debut. "Golden Skans" was another hit off Myths, and the first single off Surfing, "Echoes" has just been released earlier this summer.

It's been about 3 years since the group has toured in Chicago, and I personally am very excited to welcome them back to town. I know they put on a good show live so I hope many of you are open to taking a listen to them and think about joining us on Sept 27 for Klaxons.. and don't forget those glowsticks!

Portland's Baby Monster opens the show at 9pm.

Meetup and Ticket Details: The pre-show meetup will start at 8pm at Lincoln Station (next door). Look for me and my Blue CIRF tabletop sign. Tickets are $15 + online fees and can be purchased here.
