Chicago: Catalina Caper!

Everybody get your swimming suit on*, disconnect your neck from your spine** and head to the Irish American Heritage Center for the Catalina Caper beach party!  Featuring the music of Little Richard!  Some band!  That same band with a female singer!  And there's so much more.  We'll have a groovy diving contest*** and celebrity guests including Tommy Kirk (easily the Wil Wheaton of his day), Lyle Waggoner and the guy who played Exidor on Mork and Mindy!

Catalina Caper is a beach movie from Warner Bros. that's got all the elements of a successful beach movie except Frankie and Annette, and probably Don Rickles.  MST3k didn't riff on a whole lot of comedies, operating under the theory that competing with the movie's laughs would be hard -- especially one with as much music as this one had -- but it's kind of OK since almost all the comedy in this movie falls flat, leaving Joel and the Bots to masterfully pick up the pieces.

The episode starts in room 304 (subject to change) at approximately 7:30, but you are more than welcome to come early and enjoy a pint and a meal at the Fifth Province, the center's pub with us as we mingle with each other.  There is a $5 event fee to cover equipment, room rental and other group expenses, which covers your attendance and a pre-printed nametag.  If assistance getting to the Center is needed or any concerns aren't answered in the body of this email, you may email me with the contact button to your left, call me on the day of the meetup, or text me anytime at[masked]-3226.

* The Chicago MST3k Meetup Group has a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" policy, so if you must wear your swimming suit, wear it under or over your clothes.

** Consult your doctor first.

*** We won't have a diving contest, but there is one in the movie, and you get to watch!
