Oh, no! There goes RiffTrax! Go, go, big lizard!
From the team that brought you Stargate and Independence Day came... actually not a bad monster movie. Sure, you could probably cut 45 minutes off the damn thing and wouldn't lose anything, but Godzilla '98 (or simply 'Zilla, now that the monster from this movie has been absorbed into Toho canon as a separate creature from their flagship, Godzilla/Gojira) is mostly a solid movie about a giant monster wrecking a city that makes two major mistakes: 1, calling itself "Godzilla" when it very clearly is not, and 2, operating under the delusion that American audiences continued liking Matthew Broderick after Ferris Bueller's Day Off enough to put him front and center in their monster flick. For that reason alone this movie deserves the RiffTrax treatment.
I'll be at the Kerasotes ICON at Roosevelt, so come join me!
