Global Data Hackathon

  • Apr 28, 2012 · 6:00 AM

We have a venue!  We'll be hosting this at the Illinois Technology Associations TechNexus location at 200 S. Wacker.

We've also created the official sign-up page at eventbrite:

Please sign up on that site.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hi all, I'm gauging interest for the following event with the Chicago Machine Learning and Chicago Big Data Meetup groups.  We're also coordinating with the Chicago R and Chicago Data Science Meetups.  We're highly tentative for this event depending on interest and the availability of space.  But it sounds awesome.

"24 hours of non-stop Data Science. It started in London but is taking over the world.   Data Science London in partnership with Big Data Week is organizing the first global data hackathon from 12 noon GMT Apr 28 to 12 noon GMT Apr 29.  The competition will be hosted on Kaggle, so anyone, from anywhere in the world, can participate."

More details can be found here:

If we're able to make this happen, this would be a 24 hour event beginning on Saturday 7 a.m. to Sunday 7 a.m.

Please respond via RSVP and comment in this meetup space if you're interested.  We're also looking for a venue for this event with internet connectivity that could hold[masked] people.

Join or login to comment.

Oops, the original announcement from Data Science Global was wrong. It's noon to noon London time (UTC + 1) not GMT. This pushes it up an hour for us here. 6 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Note, this is a 24 hour event from Saturday morning at 7 a.m. through Sunday morning at 7 a.m. I had the time wrong the first time.
