In my undergrad I studied mathematics and statistics. I worked on some proofs related to genetic algorithms. I've done some applied research in bioinformatics. While at DePaul I've taken one course based on the Mitchell Machine Learning text through CDM and a special topics course in my own department based on The Elements of Statistical Learning.
I would be very interested in all of the above. Maybe a group of us could attack Kaggle and other online data challenges as practice?
Data Scientist in Chicago. Interested in statistical aspects to machine learning and high dimensional data analysis.
Excellent the group was very engaged and had interesting questions.
