What is your background in Machine Learning (e.g. what was your major, how long have you been studying related topics, do you use similar methodologies for work)?

I studied Political Science (Philosophy Minor) at the University of Illinois followed by Sociology (with a heavy concentration on the sociology of media and information) at the New School for Social Research followed by Climate Science at Columbia University. I've moved back home to Chicago as I've begun extensive research for a book trilogy, which in turn, will discuss the following topics. Rough working titles as follows--Book 1) Media celebrity and high finance-->Implications for American politics, globalization(s) of culture, and geopolitics; Book 2) Swimming with the Fishes: From a Jewish Genius to a Global Ecological Apocalypse, Pictures of the Post-Christian Future; Book 3) The Wisdom of Flowers: Rejecting Patriarchy, Rejecting Feminism, Affirming Androgyny and the Neo-Archaic Revival in (Post-?)Human Evolution... I've only recently gotten into coding...And I'm looking to network and find out how to learn more about it.

What types of meetings would you like from the ML Meetup? (presentations, interactive study sessions, hackathons, etc.)

Presentations, hackathons, study sessions, worksharing... I'm open to all such formats.

Introduction

My name is Nick Dahlheim, and I am an over-educated, under-intellectually stimulated Midwestern-based intellectual working on a book trilogy. Looking to learn and network.
