My background is mainly that of a "web application developer" turned "data scientist". For the past 8 months, I've been exploring and implementing a variety of machine learning algorithms and techniques, mainly around classification through clustering.
I would a mixture of all of these things, honestly. While I have an inclination towards things like interactive study sessions and hackathons, I definitely see a lot of value in presentations.
I'm a co-founder and current CTO of Food Genius, a Chicago-based business intelligence provider for the food industry. With the evolution of Food Genius over the past 18 months, I've stumbled into the necessity of machine learning.
