No introduction yet
I'm thinking about scheduling Hegel's "Science of Logic" on Thursdays (instead of Wednesdays), cuz: 1) Rick might be able to join us before April's end; 2) Nothing defines our Thursday usuals better than an interest in "logic" and (presumably a) "science" (of it); 3) It'd be fun to alternate it with the variably ongoing reading of Witty's "PI" or "Being and Time" (not to mention Ovid's Metamorphoses on Wednesdays). Let me know so I can ask others (and schedule accordingly). --George
Interested in discussing possibly another night The Grand Inquisitor visits him in his cell to tell him that the Church no longer needs him. The main portion of the text is devoted to the Inquisitor explaining to Jesus why his return would interfere with the mission of the Church.
Hi Erik my name is Heather I look forward to discussing existential philosophy.
I suppose you can call this an interrogatory greeting. But, in the domain of Chicago-Philosophy-Meetup commentary, why does a quotation mark often wind up as a question mark? And the same holds true for the apostrophe, as in apostrophe s, or 's'.
Thank you for reasserting the nominal nothingness of my substance, whatever that is. And, as an aside, I would like to insert that Nil < Nihil < Nihilum < Ne + Hilum (a trifle, a whit, a virtually worthless nothing of a thing) bears the same connotation as "Not even a Speck of Dust." Remind you of anyone?
Remember me? I was in the 1st AAaP's. I'm in London for a Masters in Art History at Christies/UoGlasgow. I could really use a philosophy refresher from you and Brian! We've read Wolfflin/Pollack/Kant. I have to present Hegel's Lectures on Aesthetics along w/ Foucault. If you (anyone reading this post) have any pearls of wisdom, send me an email at [masked].
Glad AAaP is still going strong and doing cool events. Will look you up when/if I return!
Cheers! Chris B.
