Manifesting a Satisfactory Life - 9/15 (North Shore Unitarian Church)

**NOTE - THIS EVENT IS THE RESULT OF OUR JUNE 1ST RETREAT WHICH WAS SHARED BY MEMBERS OF THE CHICAGO WEEKLY SITTING MEDITATION GROUP, NORTH SHORE UNITARIAN CHURCH & NORTHWEST SUBURBAN MEDITATION MEETUP. THANKS TO ALL WHO WERE PRESENT THAT DAY FOR HELPING TO MAKE THIS SEED FLOWER.**

All are welcome as we celebrate the first in a series of introductory meditation retreats to be held at North Shore Unitarian Church (NSUC) in Deerfield, IL. This series of retreats will be part of an ongoing effort to help NSUC revitalize its meditation community. That effort will also involve the addition of two new Tuesday night sittings at NSUC to our calendar. We are extremely grateful to our friends at NSUC for generously providing the space in which our affiliated meditation communities can practice and grow together.

It will be my genuine honor to host the first of these events in NSUC's beautiful Main Sanctuary so please feel free to join us for this short three hour retreat in which we will explore how the meditative practice of Mindfulness can help us manifest more satisfaction in our daily lives. We will practice sitting and walking meditation, mindful movement and practical exercises aimed at creating increased present-moment awareness, self-acceptance and wisdom about our inner selves. This retreat is open to both newcomers to Mindfulness and meditation and for experienced practitioners.

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. If you use a meditation cushion or bench, please bring it. Chairs will also be available for meditation.

Date, time & location: Sunday, September 15, 2013, 12PM-3PM. We will meet in the Main Sanctuary of North Shore Unitarian Church, 2100 Half Day Rd., Deerfield, IL. The main entrance is located off the parking lot behind the Church. Please plan to arrive at 11:45AM so we can start the proceedings by 12PM.

Directions: North Shore Unitarian Church is located in Deerfield, 29 miles north of the center of downtown Chicago. The church is located on Half Day Road (Route 22) west of Waukegan Road and east of the I-94 Tollway (about a ½ mile east of the tollway and 1 mile west of Waukegan on the north side of the street.) The church shares a driveway with 3000 Half Day Road. Look for their sign as you approach the building. Once you’ve turned into the driveway, you’ll take an immediate right to enter the church campus. The front door is in the back! Ample parking will be available at no cost.

Cost: A voluntary donation of $2.00 to help cover expenses would be most appreciated but is by no means expected.

If you have any questions about this event, please feel free to contact me. I hope you are able to be present with us for a wonderful afternoon of practice together! Namaste, Mark Z

Thank you again Mark and the NSUC members who helped you to organize this half day meditation event. I really enjoyed being in circle with everyone and appreciating our sharing and discussion. As promised, I posted a recent article published in the NY Times about the Value of Suffering in our group discussion folder. I hope to join all of you again soon. with metta, Amy

Such a wonderful time in such a beautiful place. Thanks to Ann for providing us with such a peaceful venue and everybody else for taking the time to be there. I enjoyed the silence, the rain and the discussion as well. I am grateful for a moment of inner contemplation and communion on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Namaste.

A satisfying afternoon for my soul. Extremely grateful to all who braved the elements in order to practice & share with us as we embarked on helping NSUC recreate it's meditation community. The energy of the room & practitioners was quite wonderful. I really appreciated everyone's openness. Namaste with much Love to all

Hi everyone, I would like to attend this event on Sunday. I am presently car-free and wondered if there might be someone from the city driving to the NSUC and willing/open to carpool. I live between Wrigleyville and Uptown but can meet you at a designated spot that is convenient for you. If so, please PM me or comment on my post. Thank you!

What a wonderful outcome from our connection to the lovely people at Northshore Unitarian Church. I will be in Michigan that Sunday, but "sit" with you in spirit. Thank you Mark for bringing this gift to the light of day. Sitting in their beautiful sanctuary will be a treat!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
