Return of the Chicago MongoDB User Group

After a short summer vacation the Chicago MongoDB User Group meets again. Come chat with other mongo users, eat, drink and sit down for a tasty pairing of code and discussion.

MongoDB Intro/Demo  with Michael Uzquiano

Intro to Mongoose with Jed Wood
Jed will give a lightning talk overview of Mongoose and how he has been bending it to his will.

Jed is an interaction designer, hacker, and entrepreneur at gravitytank where he bridges the gap between design and programming through rapid prototyping.

The Savory Framework with Tal Liron
This will be the first public unveiling of Savory, a comprehensive web development framework for MongoDB, featuring strong integration with the Ext JS client framework. It's fun, easy, and also real: using MongoDB and Prudence, Savory has the potential to scale up like no other web development framework.

Tal specializes in the challenge of scalability. He is founder of Three Crickets, a halfway house for his open source software, and home of Prudence, a multilingual, high-concurrency RESTful web container that scales up, out and around.

Meetup was great -- ran a little longer than I expected, so unfortunately I had to miss the second Tal's presentation...

Great set of presentations and a knowledgeable, curious crowd. We got a brief intro and plenty of flattery for MongoDB, a quick look at a Node-Mongoose project, a stellar lecture on Map-Reduce, and a thrilling introduction to the new Web Framework, Savory built on Prudence. There was plenty of q&a, good eats, and libations. Looking forward to learning more and keeping the momentum going at our next MeetUp.

This was a wonderful meeting - great presentations, good food, and lots of space. But having 4 presenters is a crunch.

Lots of great info on MongoDB and the eco system surrounding it.
I'll be interested in seeing more MongoDB based apps.

I really enjoyed the talk. I'm sorry I had to jet during Tal's discussion of his framework, I really look forward to the recording so I can catch the end of it. Kudos to all the presenters and the hosts for such an engaging and valuable meetup.

Excellent presenters, possibly too much content for one night, but other than that it was great!
