Trading as a Business (20 Hrs)

(Five session at 4 hrs each for total of 20 hrs.)

This will be the 6th offering of our Investment and Trading course. Based on student feedback I am breaking the course up into two 20 hours sections. This 'Trading as a Business' course offering is for club members who are looking at to make a living from trading the markets. This course will cover the three main aspects associated with short term income generation, which are Risk Management, Price Pattern Recognition and Trader Psychology.
Course Content:
Session 1: Trading Platform Navigation and Trading Charts Setup
- We will be using the Think or Swim platform for all class work. However the student is free to utilize any broker platform.
- Platform setup and navigation including setting up Time, Tick (Volume) and Range (Price) charts. The following indicators will be leveraged: MACD, Percent R (a.k.a. RSI), Slow Stochastics, John Carter's TTM_Squeeze, John Persons's PPS, Floor Trader Pivots, and Acceleration Bands.
- Overview of Fundamental VS. Technical Analysis
- The five principles that make for a good charting system.
Session 2: Understanding Technical Indicators
- Deep dive into how the technical indicators were selected, how they are derived and most importantly how they are used.
- Identifying the five market energies and how to use them to help predict future price action.
- Basic Technical Analysis: Volume, Trend & Consolidation, Resistance & Support, Moving Averages & Enhanced Moving Averages.

Session 3: Advanced Technical Analysis
- We will look at what technical tools used for day trading and how to use them. Such tools include: Market Internals, NYSE and NASDAQ Ticks, S&P Pit 'noise', Fibonacci Levels, Candle Sticks, and Market Profile.
- Review TOS Proprietary indicators provided by John Person, Linda Raschke and John Carter.

Session 4: Trading for a Living
- Money management rules.
- Effective Trading Plans
- Characteristics of Successful Traders
- Rules for Disciplined Trading
- Effective Journaling

Session 5: High Probability Trade Setups
- Price based trade patterns:(Bear/bull flags, Reversal patterns, Pivot & MACD signals, Ichimoku Clouds & Gap trades)
- Volume based trade patterns: (Tick Divergence, Blow-off tops/bottoms, NYSE Tick Extremes)
- John Carter Trade Setups: (The Opening Gap, Pivot Plays, Scalper, Tick Fade, The Squeeze, and Brick & Ping Pong Plays).
