Use Metra Weekend Pass to see Beverly & Pullman

  • You can get a pass for about $7. The Architecture Foundation has said we can get a private tour of Beverly on the 3rd if we have at least 10 people, and the Pullman tour will take place on the 4th. It would also be fun to grab a coffee or bite in the prospective neighborhoods.

Cost of tour $14 per person if we get enough interest to book the tour, and they need as much advance notice as possible to try to find a docent.

We will meet to catch the train to Pullman at Millennium Station on Sunday.

Are you walking around the Pullman area first (not with a tour) and then walking over to Beverly for the 1:10pm tour? I'm trying to figure out if I am able to make this ... Thanks

Not aware of any tour then, but no these would be separate days as the pass is good all weekend.

Just checked tour times again -- and reread description (amazing how helpful reading can be); tour is 10:15 of Beverly on Saturday. Separate tour of Pullman on Sunday. Did I get it right?

The CAF replied to me they are looking at changing the time of the tour to better coincide with the train schedule. I'd really like to see if anyone else would help me bribe them to move it to May 3 so we can do the factory tour the next day. Stay tuned, this maybe moved.

It's not meant to be exclusive, just an option for those who aren't observing.

Sara my question was mostly rhetoric... Do not take it personally! It's an wonderful event and I hope there will be another similar to this one soon.

I was curious about the Pullman Factory tour. I contacted them, the tours in the Pullman Factory start in May, not April. :(

I would LOVE to do this, but I will be out of town. Can we do this again this summer?

The Beverly tour is only offered 4 times this year, and all the other tours overlap with the Pullman tour, so I'm afraid this is it.

Thanks to Sara for putting this together. I've been meaning to get down that way for a while. There are a ton of historic homes and locations there, Pullman was once a vital part of Chicago industry.

Be sure to go to the Chicago Architecture Foundation at architecture.org for more info and to sign up. I highly recommend getting an annual membership as a lot of events are free to members and members receive priority access to many buildings during the October Open House, no waiting in lines.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
