We have a new place to meet this month! Stay! Dog Hotel has 12,000 square feet of play space for the pugs to frolic and romp. Stay! has hosted other doggie meetup groups who have given them a 4 1/2 star rating.

We will be meeting on a Sunday afternoon this time, so I hope that some of you who are not able to make Saturdays will be able to join us. I've been told there should be lots of available street parking on the weekend.

Stay! asks only that we clean up after our own dogs and that our dogs have the usual vaccinations and are healthy, as they do have dogs boarding in the facility. They will not be checking but will have us on the honor system.

I am estimating the fees, at this point, to cover the cost of renting the space. If they are not enough, Chris and I will cover the rest or accept donations if anyone likes. If it seems as though we'll have more than enough we can adjust the fee or put it toward the next meetup. Of course, we want to keep things as low cost as possible so if you have difficulty covering the fee let me know. We'll be collecting the fee on site so no payments ahead of time.

I'm excited about this new place and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Cost: $7.00

Bring anything you'd like but be sure it's sand, water and doggie-proof if you will be setting it down!

We're optimistic that the weather will warm up and we're headed to the beach! Please note the earlier time of 11:00 am. Just in case it does get hot we want to be out there before the hottest part of the day.

Remember this is a Chicago Dog Friendly Area and you will need your DFA tags (or come at your own risk). For information on how to get your tags check out our files on the upper left side of the page or the Chicago Park District DFA page. Bring whatever you'd like but make sure it's dog beach friendly (ie. you won't worry if a wandering dog relieves him- or herself on it!

Beach Day is always a good time and we look forward to seeing you all there!

The pugs have been invited to join the West Loop Dogs once again, this time for Sunday Brunch!" The event is hosted by Tim and Josie. Unfortunately, Chris and I will not be able to attend this time as we will be out of town but the hosts assure us they will take good care of everyone. Here is their meetup description:

"One of our loves on a Sunday morning is going out for brunch and the occasional Bloody Mary. What would make it even more special is being able to do it with our dogs. Join us for a light brunch and Bloody Mary’s at K9 University. We can let our doggies tire themselves out while we enjoy a wonderful morning socializing responsibly and the fun of watching our doggies play. We had the pleasure of visiting K9 University and wow, what a facility. It is huge with over 18,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor play areas. Even with the large size, it was still very clean and cozy. We were so impressed, in fact, Diva is going to begin her intermediate obedience training there. It is located in a convenient area on Lake St with plenty of non-metered, safe street parking available. Cost is $4.00 per person (dogs are free). Bring as many 2 legged or 4 legged friends as you would like. We will have plenty of room for all to enjoy. "

CHEERS, Tim, Josie, Mr.Big and Diva

Please RSVP by Saturday evening so that Tim and Josie will know the total count for brunch. We're sorry to have to miss this one but will see you next month. Have fun!!

We're trying out a new place this month. The Barking Lot in West Bucktown is open 7 days a week and has plenty of space for our doggies to run around. We'll be meeting up in the large room. You can check it out on their website. We're inviting the Puggles, who are also looking for a new space to meet since losing both their previous organizer and their meetup spot.

Please note, we are meeting on a Sunday afternoon this time to try to accomodate some of our members who have a hard time getting to Saturday meetups.

The cost will be $3.00 per adult at the door. Kids and dogs are free.

I will be looking for your feedback on this new meetup venue, so please let me know what you think!

Due to the unexpected closing of Mutts and Men, we've been graciously invited to join the West Loop Dog Meetup group at Urban Outsitters' west loop location for some "fun in the sun." Our hosts, Tim and Josie, are members of our group (known to us as the parents of Mr. Big, the Pug and Diva, the Rotweiller) who also organize the West Loop Dog group:

"The theme is anything summer. Baseball, soccer, the dog beach, and anything in between. Join us for some cold beer, some great Chicago pizza, and some off leash doggie playtime. Cost is $3.00 per person (dogs are free). This is for the cost of food and beverages. Again we have access to indoor and outdoor play areas as well as a room especially for small dogs that have a hard time with our bigger pals. "

Please note the later time. We'll be meeting at 4:00pm and will only have a couple of hours so there will be less room for coming and going than we usually have. For maximum doggie play time you'll want to get there close to start time.

For more information and pics of the facilities check out the West Loop Dog Meetup site at www.meetup.com/chicagodogs. Hope to see you there!
