Meet! (topics TBD, please weigh in)

It's been a while, y'all.  Let's meet up and talk about something Puppet-related!  If anyone wants to present something, I've got room and AV.  Otherwise I can talk about one of the following based on your votes:

• Getting started testing our Puppet environment with rspec-puppet

• Our move to using Github for our puppet repo and Jenkins to deploy (includes some rspec)

• Publishing modules on the forge

Or, heck, if people have something they'd like to hear about I can try.

Backstop will provide the space, food and drinks.

    30-45 should be great.

30-45 minutes including questions should be more than enough, but I can make it shorter if you want!

Up to you :) If you've got a short presentation I'll ramble on about Jenkins and related things a bit.

I've got a Mac but it's not a new one so HDMI is good for me! How long do you want me to talk for?

    March 23, 2014

  • Bill W.

Tom, I'd love to hear either or both of those! Rspec-puppet is still a touch of a black art to me, and I know other people at Backstop have looked at hiera-gpg and not liked it. What do you need for a presentation? We've got a projector that takes HDMI or VGA, or an AppleTV you can share to if you're a Mac user.

I'm happy to talk about storing sensitive data in your yaml files with https://github.com/TomPoulton/hiera-eyaml, or (following on from the rspec theme) talk about mocking puppet function etc with rspec https://github.com/TomPoulton/rspec-puppet-unit-testing, or both!?

    Jenkins for deploy sounds awesome!

I am interesting in finding out how to get started and what resources are necessary both from a hardware and people perspective.

I'd be quite happy to talk about what the Backstop Puppet ecosystem looks like. The hardware isn't that exciting, but the people parts might be :)

Hi there, members. I suspect the email about this got stuck in the crazy Meetup queue after their DDoS. I'd love to hear some feedback about topics. Otherwise I'll just pick something :)
