It might be a good idea to mix up days/times to bring in different people. Seems like Sunday afternoons are a popular choice given the turnout.

  •  Nice Cafe...a little noisy. I would like to see meetups more in my area. Im in Ravenswood in Chicago. I would be willing to cohost on sunday if someone would want to do it with me and I could find out how to link to this site to do it. 2000 West and 5000 N. is where I am. Woud like to do Sunday afternoons only ...no evening. Like some feedback from others on location.. I like scrabble!

Jan Biesterfeldt on Mar 2, 2008.

  •  The event organizer suggested that this location is too far for me to drive and I should find something closer to home... even after I explained to her that I wouldn't be coming from home but someplace closer. Then she reminded me more than once to pay my portion of check... even after I had already paid it... and when I explained this to her, she said the waiter said I didn't pay. When I asked the waiter about this he said, "You paid and I remember you paid. You paid with a $20 and you were the first to pay." Overall, the group seemed very nice and I would attend again... but I really don't think it's anyone's business how far I drive.

  •  Great fun! David is a very welcoming host.

    Sandy on Oct 12, 2009.

  •  Perhaps a 10 minute tutorial on one specific topic each month would be helpful to novice players. Or alternatively, have one set of teaching games and one set of win-at-all-costs games per gathering. I'm competitive in the context that I would like to see all players' skills improve. I also don't understand the rationale behind preference for two-player games. I think we should also encourage team games, i.e. pair a novice with an experienced player on a team (two people playing one hand) as a skill-building device.

    Mimi on Jul 13, 2008.

  •  The people I met were nice. The others didn't care to interact.
