Smart Self-Publishing: Exploring the Fine Print

Join us on April 4 to hear Mark Levine, Minneapolis publishing company CEO, attorney, author, and self-publishing industry watchdog, explain how self-publishing works, who should self-publish and who should not, how to evaluate your self-publishing options, how to work with service providers, and how to determine whether a contract is author-friendly.

Mark will discuss self-publishing terminology, service providers, publishing options, and contracts. He'll also tell us why distribution is challenging for self-publishing authors, including explaining who the major distribution players are, what to consider when distributing ebooks and print books, how print on demand (POD) differs from traditional distribution, and how the two distribution methods affect your royalties.

Mark is known throughout the industry as an excellent source of information for authors, and he devotes considerable time speaking about self-publishing at conferences and associations. His book, The Fine Print of Self-Publishing, is recognized as an unbiased and invaluable tool to help authors understand the process and proceed with confidence.

Authors who understand how self-publishing works are more likely to have a positive experience and avoid pitfalls like unethical service providers. Join us on April 4 and leave with a wealth of information on smart self-publishing.

I meant to put this in the email I sent yesterday -- I'd like to thank group member Grant Crowell for taking photos of the April 4 meeting and uploading them to group site. Much appreciated, Grant!

Unfortunately, I have to pass tonight. I'm not feeling well. However, I'll be on the look out for handouts and commentary.

I'd like to know if anyone has read Guy Kawasaki's book, "APE," on self-publishing? I have one purchased I'm reading and reviewing this week.

I am currently reading it, and find it very interesting as I know nothing of the self-publishing world. I feel like I am getting a good base of knowledge as to how self-publishing works.

Thanks for sharing this resource as I am a newbie myself. I feel quite overwhelmed by it all!

This is much needed for so many of us. I'm really grateful and looking forward to this.
