Update: Changing the date so that people have more time to plan and hopefully make it to this month's WCSS. Also, our science expert got tied up, so he can't make it this month...we'll try to get him in May!
The idea is to get together and watch some great/interesting science/skeptical stuff (TV series, movies, etc.) This is intended to be a very casual meetup...drop by, hang out, discuss after, and then maybe go out grab a bite/drink later.
We will watch episodes/videos from the list below. If you have some stuff you'd like to share (from below list), please feel free to put it up as an option.
1) Nova (TV series, 1974-present)
2) Nova ScienceNOW (TV series, 2005-present)
3) TED Talks
After a few talks/episodes, depending on the length (10-60 minutes in length), we'll take a short break for discussion/Q&A.
The library's meeting room has a projection screen. Jennifer is usually generous enough to let us use her projector. I can bring my computer, speakers, and subwoofer. This worked out pretty well the last few times. I'll be sure to have some talks/episodes pre-loaded on my laptop so we're not at the mercy of the library's wifi.
You're encouraged to bring snacks as long as you don't make a mess and clean up after yourself. You can also bring a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice, as long you promise not to spill it!
Library has a small parking lot and there's street parking. Close to the CTA blue line (few blocks away).
Lastly, for bonus points, if you know a good spot for a big group to hang out (eat, drink, talk) after 5pm in Logan Square, please comment below. The one with most "likes" wins!
