Since the last one was well received, and almost everyone felt that we should have these at least once a month, I'm suggesting that we have another gathering of science-lovers and watch some cool science stuff!
The idea is to get together and watch some great/interesting science/skeptical stuff (TV series, movies, etc.) This is intended to be a very casual meetup... drop by, hang out, discuss after, and then maybe go out grab a bite/drink later.
I think we should watch one of each below (unless some1 is strongly against this idea):
1) Nova (TV series, 1974-present)
2) Nova ScienceNOW (TV series, 2005-present)
After each episode, we'll take a short break for discussion/Q&A.
The library's meeting room has a projection screen. Jennifer has generously offered to bring/let us use her projector. I can bring my computer speakers and subwoofer. This worked out pretty well last time. I'll be sure to hv some Nova and Nova ScienceNOW episodes pre-loaded on my laptop this time, instead of relying on the library's wifi!
You're allowed to bring snacks as long as you don't make a mess and clean up after yourself. You can also bring a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice, as long you promise not to spill it!
The library has a parking lot although it might be hard to find a spot as the librarian told me that it's often full on Saturdays. There's nearby street parking.
Lastly, for bonus points, if you know a good spot to hang out (eat, drink, talk) after 5pm in the Logan Square area, pls comment below. The one with most "likes" wins!
